Sugar Consistency Monitor Typical Sensor Mounting

Drawing of sensor mounting
Normal probe location is in the side of a vacuum pan so the rotor is about midway between the lower tube sheet of the calandria and the pan bottom. Preferred mounting is shown in position A above with a slight downward angle so that the rotor will be in an area of good massecuite circulation, although horizontal mounting as shown in position B above is satisfactory. On some pans, it may be necessary to install through the pan bottom to get the rotor in a good free area as shown in position C above. However, the mounting angle should not be over 75 degrees from horizontal as there is danger of purge water leaking into the motor bearings. The rotor should be located between syrup feed inlets and away from any obstruction so that it will measure a freely moving sample of average massecuite.
